Key Criteria

Am I Eligible for the First Homes scheme?

To qualify for the First Homes scheme, applicants must meet the following criteria:

be at least 18 years old
be a first-time buyer
be able to get a mortgage for at least half the price of the home
not earn more than £80,000 a year before tax (this is your income from the previous tax year)

If you're buying with other people, you must:

all be first-time buyers
apply together (even if you're not all getting a mortgage)
your joint income cannot be more than £80,000 a year before tax (this is your joint income from the previous tax year)

And finally, the Wealden council will then prioritise applicants who are:

local people who want to stay in the community where they live and work but are struggling to purchase a home at market prices
serving members and veterans of the Armed Forces
key workers such as nurses, police and teachers
