Traditional heating methods aren’t just costly—they’re also highly inefficient. That means wasted money, unnecessary expense, and a needless impact on the environment through high emissions. Air source heat pumps offer exceptional heat generation efficiency, saving homeowners money while reducing their impact on the planet.

In order to switch to modern methods like air source heat pumps, a high level of thermal efficiency is required. This means owners of older properties are often unable to modernise due to incompatible heating systems and outdated building methods.

While owners of older properties often struggle to embrace the future of efficient heating, Brookworth properties are specifically designed to use modern heating technology to its fullest potential.

Through careful design and implementation of high quality systems, our modern, sustainable homes deliver total comfort, robust future-proofing and significant savings on energy bills from day one.

Air source heat pumps in Brookworth Homes

At Brookworth Homes, we’re constantly working to make our properties fit for the future—and play our part in making our industry more sustainable. We already install A+++ rated heat pumps in our properties, delivering the ultimate in efficiency and emissions reduction.

Crucially, we’re able to consider energy consumption and heating throughout your home, not just implementing heat pumps but also optimising your environment to get the best performance. Our homes all offer enhanced insulation using high-quality insulating beads, preserving more of the heat you generate. And our underfloor heating ensures warmth is distributed evenly around your home, working in tandem with your heat pump.

The benefits of air source heat pumps

Energy efficiency

Air source heat pumps can typically generate three or four times more heat than the electricity they consume. This is more efficient than some of the most modern combi boilers, and certainly more efficient than boiler and tank systems where water is often heated only to gradually cool in a tank, unused.

Sustainability

As we all continue to move away from harmful fossil fuels and their significant carbon emissions, air source heat pumps are better for the planet. This is primarily because they’re powered by electricity, where the entire sector is moving toward renewable sources including wind and solar.

Cost savings

Energy efficiency isn’t just good for the planet—it’s good for your bank balance, too. Air source heat pumps can help you save money on your energy bills long-term. Energy provider Octopus estimates this could be as much as £213 every year compared to gas.

How do air source heat pumps work?

While traditional boilers use gas to heat water for your heating and taps, air source heat pumps take a different, more efficient approach. In essence, an air source heat pump takes air from outside your home, increases its temperature, and uses this to feed your heating and hot water.

This involves three key stages:

1. Heat is absorbed from outside

Air source heat pumps absorb heat from external air. Even at low temperatures, this heat is warm enough to affect a refrigerant, which circulates between an outdoor evaporator coil and indoor condenser coil.

2. Air is used to heat a refrigerant

This heat causes the refrigerant—a liquid that’s highly effective at conducting heat—to turn into a gas, causing the pressure inside your system to rise. This increases the temperature significantly, meaning that even external air at relatively cool temperatures can generate enough heat for your home and hot water.

3. Heat is transferred into your home

This heat is then transferred to water and passed through your home in traditional pipework and central heating systems. With slightly lower temperatures than gas boilers, air source heat pumps are especially effective when used in well-insulated homes and with larger heating surfaces including underfloor heating.

Creating elegant, efficient new homes

Air source heat pumps are an innovative answer to some of the biggest challenges we’re all facing in terms of sustainability and reducing emissions, and one we’re proud to make a part of our new developments.

Through intelligent design and a commitment to quality, we create homes that strike the perfect balance between efficiency and comfort—environmentally friendly living experiences that are future-proofed with the latest technology throughout.
